One day, he gave me an entire set of the 'Conflict Of The Ages' series by Ellen G. He was the first person in my life to introduce me to Christ, which then lead me to attending a very large, extremely popular, Pentacostal church in our community. There was a Seventh Day Adventist in our office who first challenged my intellect with the Adventist view of the state of the dead (death is a state of sleep until the resurrection). A miraculous change occurred in me overnight. Jesus, through His Holy Spirit, had come into my life. By God's providence, I ended up in a Pentacostal church were I experienced a born again experience. Seventh Day Adventist have been careful to hold to a very clearly defined distinction, in regards to the writings of Ellen White and the Bible, by always refering to her as a 'messenger of God' and alway emphasing the Scriptures as the only true source leading to salvation. Adventist believe they received this gift of prophecy through the writings of Ellen G. So, we see that the definition of the 'Testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy'. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." Rev 19:10 "Then ( A)I fell at his feet to worship him ( B)But he said to me, "Do not do that I am a ( C)fellow servant of yours and your brethren who ( D)hold the testimony of Jesus worship God. Rev 14:12 "Here is ( A)the perseverance of the saints who ( B)keep the commandments of God and ( C)their faith in Jesus." The term 'faith in Jesus' is also understood by Seventh Day Adventist as 'having the Testimony of Jesus'. Two of those distinct markings describe a people who 'keep the commandments of God and posses the gift of prophecy' as described in both Revelation 14:12 and 19:10. Seventh Day Adventist also believe they fulfill the complete discription of the remnant Church as described in The Book of Revelation. Seventh Day Adventist Christians hold the Bible, and the Bible alone, as God's Supreme Word that Jesus Christ is the center of their faith.It is the study of the life of Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, that leads the Christian into a right relationship with The Trinity.
